Hi all! I'm super excited to say I've officially been in business for a full week! I absolutely love my new location on Arnold Avenue and I couldn't be happy to be in my dream spot. It's so rewarding to be here after creating EmbellishU a little over 4 years ago. All of my neighbors, local shops are super cute too!! 

To go along with my brand new business, I have launched a new website. There, you can find all my services (plus a few extra new ones) including Raindrop Treatments, Angel card readings, and more! All of my services also include all vegan/organic products. You know my motto, I want nothing but the best for my guests. 

Through my website you can book with me or download my app, EmbellishU, and it will prompt you on how to make an appointment. Reminder* we offer by appointment only to maintain a serene atmosphere, keep exclusivity and maintain my clients privacy. Biggest Hair Trends for Fall 2016

As the season changes and the leaves begin to turn, you might be thinking of changing your look to go along with it. Here are some of the top trends incoming for the fall.  

Beveled bob - bobs have been on trend for a while now, but unlike the shaggy and undone looks of the past, this year is all about the sleek and constructed. Take it up a notch with a blunt straight across bang. 

Center parts - with the right cut and style a middle part can bring your face front and forward and look very elegant. Tuck it behind your ear to show off your face and collarbone even more.  

Finger waves - straying away from the loose wave and curl look and going for the old Hollywood, glamorous look. Give it even more of a Hollywood spin with a ultra dark smoky eye and a red lip.  

Sleek high ponytail - skip the top knot this season and switch to a high pulled back pony that will accentuate your eyes  

Piecey bangs - reminiscent of the 1960's a la Bridgette Bardot. Every so slightly messy and frame your eyes and face.  

Wet hair - I know what you're thinking, not literally wet, but slicked down. Wear it with a middle part for a ultra 2016 look.

Top Mistakes You're Making Doing Your Makeup

As much as all these YouTube tutorials and Instagram videos make doing makeup look so easy, you still might be feeling a little lost. Feel like you're still not getting the look that you desire? Let me help.

A very common mistake many people make is applying bronzer to your entire face. Bronzer is meant to compliment your bone structure and complexion, not disguise it. Skip the Oompa Loompa look and apply bronzer to the points of your face where the sun would hit naturally. Forehead, cheekbones and jawline, sparingly.  

Another issue I've noticed people struggle with is under eye concealer. A lot of women tend to just dot right under the eye but that way you aren't maximizing the full benefits of your concealer. Also, that method can make it look too light in that one area bringing out the dark circles more. Instead, apply it in an upside down triangle. This evens out all the darkness and inconsistencies below your eyes but also creates a triangle of light that helps draw attention to your eyes.  

Eyeliner is one of the top beauty products people have trouble getting down. If you want to open up your eyes and give them a youthful look, apply a thin line on the top lash line, not just the bottom. Many women I've noticed tend to skip this. It may be harder to achieve but once you get it right it'll be like riding a bike. It'll pay off by giving your eyes a more lifted appearance. Another trick is to not connect your top and bottom liner. This is just closing off the eye, making them look smaller. Bonus tip: if you want really bright, wide eyes add a nude liner along your bottom water line. Hello eyes!

Best End Of Summer Skin Care

While summer isn't officially over yet, now is the time to start thinking about and preparing for your fall skin care routine. Your skin changes with the seasons and so should your regimen. Your skin takes a toll after all the sun, chlorine and salt water. I have a head to toe guide that will help you and your skin feel rejuvenated and fresh.

One of the most common issues people develop over the summer is sun spots and freckles. Even with your best efforts at sun protection you can't keep the sun off your skin 100%. Treat spots and uneven skin tone by using targeted spot treatment products. Glycolic acid creams and lotions are the best for getting rid of hyper pigmentation. Vitamin C can also help listen hyper pigmentation too. Plus it will help to replenish your skin with antioxidants.

When your skin is covered with dry, dead skin cells you need a little more than just a deeply hydrating lotion. Exfoliation is key to revealing smooth skin and improving the absorption of other products. You can create a simple scrub at home with just a few ingredients like honey or coconut oil, sugar, a little vitamin E and your favorite essential oils.  

Always be sure to switch your sun protection come fall. It's best to have something that is broad spectrum to block UVA rays which are most prevalent this time of year and the most damaging.  

This eye cream is the bomb, great for all skin types. Gives you the glow and hydration tinkers fine line away.  

Everyone gets dry, hard feet over the summer especially when you're wearing sandals and flip flops all the time. Soften your skin with a cream especially made for heels, elbows etc, something with a little extra power. Then you can scrub off the softened skin with an exfoliating stone or file.  

By taking the time now to care for and do some well deserved maintenance on your skin, you'll see improvements as the leaves start to change in the early days of fall.

What Your Spots Mean and How To Combat Them

Got a big event to go to? A first date? And ever so coincidentally your chin decides to grow a second head? Or maybe you neglected your five-a-day and now you have a forehead of pimples? It seems it's not all down to coincidence. Like reflexology, areas of the face can help give us information about what's going on in the body.  

Spots on the forehead -  

While sporting a fringe could help hide a blemishes forehead, it can also collect grease from styling products and sweat. But bangs or no bangs, it could be a cause of your diet. These spots can indicate over consumption of red meat, alcohol and saturated fats. 

Spots on the cheeks -  

These can also be a result of your eating habits. Usually from too much meat, sugar and dairy products. We all know a spot on your cheek can be one of the hardest spots to conceal. Try cutting down on these foods one by one and see if your skin improves.  

Spots on the jawline -  

Again an indication of diet. You are what you eat after all. This can be caused from a congestion in the large intestine, often caused by heavily processed foods. If you look at the ingredients list and feel totally baffled, that's not a great sign. Try going for some simpler foods like veggies and nuts.  

Spots on the chin -  

Few woman don't get a spot or two around their time of the month. Hormonal and cystic acne affects countless woman. Using products with salicylic acid will help to unclog pores and keep future breakouts at bay.  

To treat spots advice remains the same. Try hard not to pick and pop with dirty hands or at all. Also use medicated products to treat and conceal.  

Try eating more fish like salmon, stay away from hot foods and spices, cut down on sugar and dairy. Try this for a few weeks and you will see your face clear right up! Also I great way to help keep skin clear is using a glycolic or enzyme peel once a week. Keeps your skin exfoliated while treating blemishes. Always wash your face at night 2x's. Use a serum before bed, and in the am use your moisturizer. Skin will be flawless!!

• Ribboning - this has become one of the most popular trends for this year. Best for naturally wavy types, it involves several fine highlights throughout the hair in a "ribbon" effect. Great for brightening up brunettes or for adding a pop of pastel color.  
• Lowlights - just like a highlight, but deeper. Typically you want to stay within 3 shades of your base color, anything more than that can start to look a little skunky. Meant to add dimension and depth and are great to make lighter pieces stand out more.  
• Balayage - aka hair painting, has become the ever popular among women. Painting the hair opposed to traditional foiling gives a more natural, sun kissed effect. Stylists typically place the highlights where the sun would naturally hit. Perfect for those who want a lived in feel and don't want to look like they just got their hair done  
• Babylights - remember those perfect highlights you would get in the summer as a child from the sun that you thought could never be duplicated? Well, the day has come. Baby lights are super fine streaks that frame the face, similar to balayage, for a natural and youthful effect.  
• Ombré - in a short amount of time this has become a household technique in the salon. Think of it as growing your summer hair out. A deep root transcending into lighter ends. The ultimate flower child look.  
• Sombre - I know you're thinking what on earth does sombre mean and how is it different from ombré. Sombre is short for subtle ombré, so it's not far off. It has the same dark to light effect, but not as obvious. It's very muted and soft. Good for those who might be new to lightening their hair.  

Dont thinking just because summer is on its final months that it's too late to go light! Fall doesn't necessarily mean you have to go darker. Adding some lightness is a great way to spice up your mane.

Calling all Crunchy Granola's, Embellish U goes Organic!!

Look at all the pretty colors!! 

Conventional nail polish is one of the most toxic products in the beauty industry, as many contain a ton of harmful chemicals. It only takes 10 minutes of polish being on your nails for it to be absorbed into your bloodstream. These chemicals are especially dangerous to pregnant women and children. 

Many nail polishes include - 

• Toulene - known to cause reproductive issues and dizziness. Also found in gasoline. 
• Formaldehyde - a common carcinogen found in many beauty products. Used to preserve dead things and have strict warnings on inhalation and skin contact. 
• Dibutyl phthalate (DBP) - banned in Europe and is another chemical known to cause reproductive problems, especially in boys. The environmental working group suggests that this is a high danger level chemical and warns that it can cause organ problems and endocrine disruption.

Nail polish removers are also equally as problematic and the fumes are especially harmful.  Karma hues are one of my favorite organic nail polish companies. Not only are they vegan, they do not contain any of the ingredients listed above and they are chip resistant, durable, and have no harsh odors. So...... Naturally I only want the best and healthiest for my clients.

After carefully choosing which brand I want, I found some great products that work amazing!! Polishes are also available in glossy, matte, and glow in the dark shades. Hair Feeling Fried from the Sun and summer fun? Then this is for you!!

As we all know, summer can be the most trying season for your hair. From being out in the sun to pools and ocean water, it can really take a toll on your strands. If you're coloring your hair, you might suffer more, since all the UV rays can fade your color and cause it to lose its luster. If you give your hair some extra moisture, you won't have to worry about your hair drying out, snapping or fraying. 

If your hair is especially frizzy, you'll want a leave in that really locks in the moisture so it won't pouf out. The ingredient PolyfluoroEster creates a shield that holds in moisture so you won't have an afro right when you walk outside. For fine and straight hair, opt for a lightweight spray. One that doesn't contain oil in the first few ingredients. This way you won't build a heavy residue and cause your hair to be more flat and weighed down.

Regular heat stylers should especially be using a leave in. You've probably got more breakage than you like to admit if you're picking up that flat iron or blow dryer more than a couple times a week, so you need the extra protection. Find an intensive mask that repairs and reconstructs the hair. Oils are especially good for your hair type. If you've got thick and curly hair, you want something a little heavier. Curly and wavy textures lack moisture naturally, so adding any kind of extra moisture will help your curls bounce and act as they should.

Banish Acne Scars for Good!

Acne scars are among the most frustrating, and embarrassing, skin problems. There are several different types of scars, from slight discoloration to deep scarring. Depending on whether it's a newer or older scar, you have to treat them differently. Here I want to share some advice on getting rid of those marks once and for all. 

The first and most important thing anyone can do, is prevent. Prevent, prevent, prevent. It's much easier to keep ailments away than to treat them. Start with a good skincare routine, use exfoliating wash at least once per day, a glycolic serum and a SPF in the morning is always a must, in the pm use a glycolic or retinol, avoid picking and popping or causing any trauma to the skin. Always use spf, even when you think you don't need it. All of these will help in avoiding acne scars.

If you have any fresh scars, you want to treat the inflammation right away. Anything that boosts the production of collagen in the skin will help to prevent new scars from becoming old ones. Thickening the skin helps to make the scars less noticeable. 

Treatment with salicylic acid.  

If you have those pink or red marks, salicylic acid will help to reduce redness, brighten skin and produce cell turnover. Plus, it'll reduce breakouts altogether. 

Vitamin C is also another good ingredient to any of your skincare products to help skin repair and brightness. This will lighten scars with consistent use. 

Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) Roller

You also can use a Derma Roller to help with scars, it's a hand held roller with lots of little needles. These needles penetrate the skin leaving little microscopic channels that you can deliver product deeper in the skin. This is how you cause trauma to the skin, it tricks your skin into regeneration. It increases your skins thickness by 8% making it the ideal anti-aging skin care solution. Also roller stimulates natural production of collagen lifts and maximizes the skins recovery abilities by reducing wrinkles and pigmentation and improving skin tone. You only need to roll for about 15 minutes once a week. A roller that is .25 is great for home care. Any bigger you want to be with a licensed professional. Do not go larger then .25. Make sure your roller is sterile, has CE written on the box, has at least 540 needles. 

SPF!! Is a non negotiable!!

Narrow Down Your Beauty Routine

In this day and age, there are so many different beauty products out there. From creams to lotions and serums and every form of foundation under the sun, it can be all a little overwhelming. Here I want to list the bare essentials that can get you through your morning routine while still looking young, fresh and glowing.  

• Coconut oil - the miracle worker. Use it as a moisturizer, hair mask, a head to toe salve, even a teeth whitener. Make sure it's refined though  
• Essential oils - these you may have a few of, but for different purposes. Tea tree for blemishes, lavender for anxiety, peppermint for energy or skin refresher, just to name a few. You can even make your own scents  
• BB Cream - evens out your skin tone and masks imperfections while still being lightweight, what more could you want  
• Powder palette, one of those with a highlighter, blush, bronzer and a skin tone. You could even use some of the shades for your eyeshadow  
• Eyeliner - in whatever form of your liking, liquid, pencil, gel etc  
• Mascara - lashes frame your eyes and make them standout more
• Lipstick/gloss/liner - find your signature shade of lipstick, a nuetral liner, and a light gloss. Perfect  
• Dry shampoo - make your blowout last a little extra while giving your hair some volume  

While these are just essentials, you might add a few items you love here and there, for a special occasion or whatever it may be. Or even if you just feel like treating yourself to a new lipstick. Hopefully this list will have you try something new, maybe you'll even find your new favorite product.

Let's talk a little about some fashion tips. Individual style is very important especially for us women. It allows us to be creative and express who we are as a person. I've curated a list of some essentials that everyone should have in their closet that you can mix and match with your own unique pieces for the perfect look. 

Great easy coats to wear and super cute! 

Black and brown belts fun detailed work too. For that sexy but edgy look. 

• the ever popular, LBD (little black dress) if you ever have somewhere important to go, you can't go wrong with one of these. 
• black pumps, what better to go with your LBD than some cute little heels. Here you can have some fun and go with a patent leather, or maybe a classic pointy toe, the choice is yours. 
• black skirt, if you're not one to choose a dress as a first pick, a skirt can do just as well, a nice mid length looks good on everyone 
• white collared shirt, this you can dress up with your skirt, or even a nice pair of slacks, or you can totally dress it down and pair it with some distressed jeans
• black/brown belt, for those outfits that are just missing a little something 
• structured blazer, another item that you can dress up or down, a black or navy goes well with mostly everything, or you can have some fun with it and choose a statement color to go with a black outfit for a pop of color 
• dress jeans, in a black or gray, still office appropriate but still comfy 
• button down cardigan, a neutral color is best so you can wear it with anything, you can choose or more fitted style or opt for a long loose style for a different type of look
• rain coat or denim jacket, for when you need something lightweight, but still want to look chic and put together at the same time, yet still practical 

Love the tailored flare pant, very slimming. Also a good pair of boyfriend jeans, you dress up or down!

A Little Tuesday Pick Me Up

Be on Purpose! Turn every negative into a positive::)) we have gifts from God all day. You just have to see them.  

Hi all (: Today I want to spread some positivity and inspiration to all of you. This is for anyone who may feel stuck, or any type of negativity whatsoever. We've all been there, and it's easy to feel like you're the only one who's ever felt the way you do. Know that you are not alone!! For every emotion or feeling you've ever felt, there's so many other people who have felt the same or similar without you even knowing it. A lot of people don't speak about what their internally feeling for the fear of being misunderstood.

What I want to instill in everyone going through any kind of hardship right now is that you have the power to change it. Yes, you! You are the first, and only person that can help yourself. It's easy to get into a negative cycle and think that there's nothing you can do to make your situation lighter, but the longer you think that way, the longer things will stay the same. Be the change you wish to see. Your mind is your most powerful organ in your body. It's a lot stronger than you may think. Everyone has the ability to attract what they want in life through positive thinking. You know the saying, "a negative mind will never lead to a positive life." It sounds corny, but it's true. What you put out into this world is what you attract. In religion we call it spirits, in science we call it energy, in the streets we call it vibes. However you look at it, those energies you give out will come back to you. Don't get me wrong, nobody's perfect, and everyone can get down every once in a while, but taking those negative circumstances and letting it fuel you to make it a positive instead of letting them bring you down is your key to having a better outlook. It's not about what's going on around you, but how you choose to look at it. Perspective, my friends. 

I would like everybody starting today to pick out all the good things about your day, even the tiniest, most insignificant things. Make it a daily practice, and watch how your mind set changes. You can thank me later (;

The Latest In Lip Enhancers

So this is a subject I've been wanting to talk about for some time now. I've noticed that permanent cosmetics and other cosmetic procedures have become more the norm lately. Well with celebs like Kylie Jenner who debuts fuller lips what seems like every week, what else do you expect. That being said I wanted to share with you a new innovation to one of the most popular names in lip enhancers, Juvederm. They have just been approved for their formula called Volbella XC, for lip augmentation and correction of perioral rhytides (aka lines around the mouth.) The filler is created with hyaluronic acid, which has been called the "fountain of youth." It acts as a cushion and lubricant to fill in those lines and gives subtle volume to the lips. Mandalas are the representations of the awakening soul, finding and perfecting yourself. On our journey I think we all strive to become a better person, to feel with our souls and not be driven by ego. 

The circle is the symbol of being whole. Motives drawn in a specific order within the circle radiate joy, peace, harmony, tranquility and concentration. We are all whole and perfect as we are. We have to trust in God and keep our faith.

A Look Into Permanent Makeup

As all of you know, I love and am a huge advocate on expanding my education and furthering my skills in the beauty industry, which is solely built on the fact that I love to make others feel beautiful, inside and out. So without further revue I'd like to announce that I am officially certified in permanent cosmetics! I will be finishing my apprenticeship this week. Then off to take my test to get licensed my the American Association of Micropigmentation. This has been a long time goal of mine and I'm so glad I now get to offer this to wonderful clients. With permanent cosmetics your daily makeup routine can be even more effortless. You can be out the door in literally under 5 minutes. Never worry about getting that fine line of eyeliner to be just right only for it to smudge halfway through the day. These were all different eyebrows on different woman. They barely had hair. Some were done with a shading technique, then came back for hairlike strokes after words. 

This is still Healing:) but a huge part to remember, Heal, Peel, and fade. My mom literally just wears gloss. Your color then disappears and comes back. Faded though.  

Here we  dropped her lower lip line to give her a more pout look:) also defined her lips more. Created more shape:)

We Are Moving!

Hi all! Just wanted to share some exciting news with all of you. This has been long awaited for me...Embellish U is moving to a new location! Now I will be able to better serve my existing clients and make room for new ones. I will be right in the heart of Point Pleasant Beach, not far off from where I am now. I will still be performing all the same services, and possibly a few more! That's all still a secret, for now (; I can not wait to reveal the exact location and final product with all of you. This has been a dream of mine for a long time and I want to thank all of you for making it possible. Stay tuned for more info!

Get Ready For Summer with a Sunless Tan from Embellish U

Best Color!! We also have regular color for people who don't want as dark of a tan!! 

I don't know about you, but I am ready for summer. Warm weather, flip flops, beaches, you get what I'm saying. With the summer months coming near, lots of people like to try to get a "base" color whether they're just preparing for summer, vacations, whatever the case. As you all know I'm a huge advocate on taking care of your skin, and while the sun may feel amazing on your skin, it's not the best for it, whether you use spf or not; prolonged amount of time in the sun can lead to skin damage and other issues. But of course you still want a healthy, bronzed glow, so what better option than spray tanning! Harmless to your skin and still get that look you desire. 

Maybe be always considered spray tanning, but were skeptical? Many people think "I don't want to look orange." Or "I'm afraid of it looking streaky." Well, I can assure you with my spray tans you won't run into those issues. Norvell sunless tanner issues brown and violet undertones (I know it sounds strange) in their formula so you never get that orangey "fake bake" look. They look great on any skin tone. I also have two different tans you can choose from, one with a longer develop time and another with shorter time. All you need to do to prepare for you tan is make sure you are shaved and exfoliated prior to your appointment. This assures that you won't take off your tan by doing either of those afterwards. Also, no makeup or moisturizer/lotion before your tan. You want your skin to by dry so the tan can adhere to your skin. 

If you take good care of your tan; doing so by avoiding scrubbing too hard in the shower, using very hot water, and always pat dry and use lotion after your shower; my tans will last from 7-10 days!  Can also airbrush contour you as well. Don't forget you can always book with me through my app or online

It truly its a luxury service, and a really amazing experience too. My main priority after the health and safety of your lashes, is making you feel comfortable. Volume Lash extensions is a new technique that can offer great volume, so many lashes up to 360 per eye! Seriously it’s like POW! It is unique in itself to also offer to woman that are not able to wear classic lash extensions, due to having sparse thin lashes. Whether it is from a medical condition, hereditary or with age, as we know things change.  Let me tell you a little history about the two techniques so you can understand them a little better.

Classic lash extensions are done with one single lash extension that is applied to one of your own natural lashes at the base of your eye, but before your skin. Myself or another technician does this by using two long stainless steel sanitized tweezers. One tweezer holds the lash extension and one tweezer isolates one single natural lash. Now if you have sparse hair we cannot fill in any gaps. We can apply hair where hair is. There are different weights and lengths in lashes and all that is based on the health of your own natural lashes.

Now we get to Volume Lash Extensions. So as far as the technique goes and isolation of the lashes its all the same. Volume lashes is a technique that you will pick up very fine eyelash extensions 2,3,4,5,6 lashes at one time. You create small fans. This technique really is for technicians that are already advanced in there lash career. I say this cause you really have to know how much glue and the weight of the lashes. Health and safety first, always!! The lashes are much more fine this way you can use more lashes on one eye and fill in gaps and give the illusion of having longer, thicker, and more full lashes. Without compromising the integrity of your lashes. The price of volume lashes is anywhere from $350 to $400 for a full set. The maintenance is $100/$125. It takes up to 3hrs to put them on. The fill can take up to 2hrs. Usually about 1.5, but when you go full on it takes longer. If anyone says it should be quicker trust me it's not a good reputable place.

The Best Spring Makeup Trends For 2016

Spring has finally sprung here in New Jersey (at least for now) which means it's time to up your look! Everybody feels a little better when the temperatures start rising, and you start to put a little more effort in. The no-makeup makeup trend has been around for a while, but that reign is over. It's time for bright red lips, electric eye's, glitter and fluffy lashes. 

Classic look red lip and black liner. For a super easy look when you have zero time in the am!! Throw hair in a bun and add a POP OF RED COLOR TO LIPS!! you will look perfectly prepped:)) 

A red lip is always a classic, but on the runways for spring this year it's never been so evident. The color to keep in mind: Snow White apple red, with a satin finish, for a fresh low maintenance look. Or if you want a little more drama, go for a stay in place all night matte. There's tons of liquid to matte lipsticks out there nowadays. Opt for a simple black liner on the eyes and you're set.

Apply to inner corners to outside corners! Want to make it super intense!!! Dampen your brush and pat it on!! 

My favorite look I've been seeing is blue for the eyes. Yes I know you're all thinking, "how the hell do I wear that?" The answer, any way you want. Don't be afraid of a little color. You can do a smoky eye with a sparkly navy instead of your traditional browns and blacks. You could even take a cobalt blue liner and use it on your bottom lash line and smoke it out a bit with a neutral shadow. Any way you choose isn't wrong, have fun!

Now this is fun! Keep the eyes soft. You can use soft brown from Mac. Also do a blue line under your eyes mixed in with the soft brown... You are the next fashion statement:)) 

Now mascara has been on the back burner for a little while, but the emphasis on lashes has made a come back. For those of you that are on the blue eye movement, another fun trick is to add some colored falsies, just to the outer corner of your eye. • They have a natural look and feel.
• The procedure is relaxing. Most clients fall asleep
• They're easy to maintain. they're semi permanent, water-resistant, and there's no need to apply mascara or any other product to your lashes everyday.
• They provide quick gratification; full sets can take 1 hr to 3 hrs to apply. Touch-ups take anywhere from 45 min to 1.5 hrs to apply. Depending on style, length in between fills, how you wear them, and home care. 
• Eyelash Extensions can be customized to enhance features to give a more youthful appearance.
• Generally touch-ups are every 3 weeks.
• Eyelash extensions need to be cleaned at least 2x a week., with a product containing zero oil. Cleansed daily if you wear makeup.
• After application you can get them wet after 2 hrs. (Only when using a nano mister)
• Remove all makeup nightly, by not cleaning or removing your makeup causes buildup on your lashes that breaks down the bond of the glue, causing them to fall off quicker. Plus you can get disease and lash mites.
• Do not twist or pull at your eyelash extensions, that can cause damage to your own natural lash.
• Enjoy waking up and looking awake and ready to go
• Will cut your time in half when getting ready. Useful time to do other things......
• When you see your natural lash adhered to the extension, this is normal. It just means your own natural lashes are shedding.
