Embellish U has Expanded!!

Finally! The wait is over! I can share what I have been doing for almost a year now! Some of you know bits and pieces, but what I have learned to be successful you have to keep your ideas to yourself!  

Ok, so last summer in the middle of building Embellish U in Point Pleasant beach, I started a school for permanent cosmetics that I signed up for months in advance. The timing was not good, but I can't let timing get in the way of my success. 

During this process you attend a full week 100 hrs, you work on clients, have homework, it's very long full days!! Class was expensive, but it was worth it. When you finish, you think yay, certification I am done. Ya. Not so fast I still have a long apprenticeship to complete, which encompasses completing 15 models in total. Which is a whole other expense. Then there is a practical, written exam, and a oral exam, which I am proud to say I got a 96.3!! After months of studying and hard work, I was finally all finished.  Oh yeah, malpractice insurance can't forget that either, along with your hepatitis B vaccination, there was so much to do. 

So now Embellish U in Point Beach is finally finished and I passed my last inspection and I am open for business in September! Yay, no more biz from my apartment! Thank you to who ever called zoning!! You got me moving a little faster! 😂 Truly a gift from god:) 

So now my new dilemma is I can't legally do permanent cosmetics in my newly opened Point Beach location and I really want to do it!! My boyfriend at the time, now fiancé Ron love him, is looking around for small places to perform permanent cosmetics. We looked everywhere, looked at a few just wasn't a good fit. Then he came across one in Manasquan, that was going to be available in January 2017. It was currently the month of October 2016.

I go to Manasquan one day to take a look at the space, looks like no one is there. I say to myself cool, let me take a peek in the window. As I am peeking in I see someone, inside Ooops does she see me, Shit I think she did.  She is looking at me a little weird, probably thinking who is this lady peering in my windows so early in the morning. As we make eye contact, I realize it's my cousin Leanne.  Hi Lex!  What are you doing here so early, something wrong?  So then our conversation begins, turns out my cousin had this place in Manasquan for 11 years it was Bodies 21 and she is an amazing massage therapist. Just FYI she still comes to Squan for her clients time to time, but she is on another adventure in Puerto Rico.  

 Her space was going to become availble January 1st 2017. At that point I signed the lease and formed Embellish U Permanent Cosmetics. Fast forward a few months from January, I also attended school for microblading. Microblading is a 2 day course with a 6 month time frame to compete 11 levels. I successfully completed my course in 3 months. My goal was to pass before my place opened, Goal Crushed! 

 This past Monday May 15th was my Board of Health final inspection,  I felt confident going into the inspection, but inspectors can be tricky. When I have inspections I generally tend to keep quiet, and let the inspectors do all the talking. This inspection was different then what I was use to or expected. This felt like more of an exam then an inspection, I thought I was done with my exams. The Board of Health Inspectors made me do the whole consultation, sanitation, breakdown, everything! I was exhausted to say the least, but I successfully passed my inspection. I am so excited, blessed, and grateful to be able to live out my dream. After I left my shop I then treated myself to some Botox, came home, and went sleep!!(sitting upright of course)Thank God It's over and behind me, Now I can breathe...

1. My all time favorite is my eye mask! I been wearing one forever. I actually use the brand buckys from Amazon. You can still move your eyes and it's great for woman with lashies! It blocks all the light and just shuts off the brain. There is also studies that it puts you in a deeper sleep. Your R.E.M.(rapid eye movement the most important restorative sleep)and it's so true for the occasional night I misplaced them I feel the difference.

2. This is maybe equal to my first essential oils. I give myself a little neck massage. Rub some peppermint on my belly to soothe me. On my head after a long day and if I have a headache. Lavender on my chest. I'm literally a essential oil junkie. Also inhalation taking deep breaths and inhaling lavender or stress relief. Not the peppermint!! That will not put you asleep. Make sure to keep the peppermint away from your eyes.  

3. Taking a nice warm bath with Epsom salt. Epsom salt will help ease your muscles, and detoxify your days negative energies away. A great cleansing.  

4. Washing my face using my Image cleanser, also using a great nighttime retinol mask. Knowing I will wake up looking fresh and hydrated! Brushing my teeth, and always have h20! Stay hydrated always.. 

5. Stay off phone and electronics and read usually I'm fast asleep in about 10 minutes.

Are Lash Lifts for you?

After attending an all day class. Look at the separation and the ends. Ahh puurrrfection!! Love it! I get so excited.. 

What's all the craze about these lash lifts these days!! Well I have to say they are pretty amazing.. I think it's a great way to give the look of having natural lashes without all the fuss of getting them maintained every 2-3 weeks. They will last 6-8 weeks.  

I mean look at the eyelid lift that's unreal!! Magic happens at EmbellishU!! 

One part I love about the lash lift,  is it's giving woman a chance to see ​themselves bare and natural. It's nice to get use to yourself "naked". You don't need it all your beautiful just the way you are. We just choose to embellish more with lash extensions, and such casue it does save us time during the day. 

This lift looks amazing, but this is before I attended class. This is what you see around not bad but could be better! 

Ok, so the part that is a little tricky about lash lifts is the growing out/shedding phase. They do get a litttle wonky! (I like that word) You have different shedding cycles same as extensions. They are at 3 different phases. So some will still be curled, straight and it does make it harder to put mascara on. ​

To my last final thought. EDUCATION. I have been redoing clients lifts. You can't just learn online, it gives you and overall understanding of the procedure but you need to go to a class. Ask them if they were certified with a school they attended. It makes a huge difference. The placement of the hair is everything. A good lash lift takes about 45-75 mins. Longer if I have to fix wonky lashes. Again ask your questions, don't go to the cheaper place, see where they went to school. It's your eyes. Feels like Fall, Foundation Goes A Shade Lighter, Lipstick Goes A Shade Darker

Fall is officially here ladies and so is my favorite month of all, October. While I'll certainly miss bronzed skin and breezy hairstyles, the new season has me in the mood for exciting beauty trends it comes with. 

The trend - fresh, highlighted skin  

Loving the new highlighter kit from Anastasia also Mario master palette!! Great fall colors

Radiant, glowing skin is back. "Non-touring" is what many people are calling it; the look of heavily covered and overly contoured skin is gone and creamy, dewy skin is here.  

How to get the look - opt for a lightweight foundation to even out your skin then apply a concealer around the noose and under the eye to help camouflage any imperfections and blend. Finish the look with a highlighter on the tops of your cheekbones and Cupid's bow of the lips.  

The trend - peachy lids  

The new neutral that everyone can wear. You can go as bright or as subtle as you like. Pair it with a nude lip for day and for some added drama, with a deep crimson shade for evening.  

How to get the look - Use a cream color at the lash line and blend up until you reach your desired look. Then, finish with a light sweep of powder shadow.  

The trend - glitter eyeliner  

Think of leaves as they turn colors, all the shades they turn too!! Use that for inspiration:)) 

While unexpected for fall, glitter on the eye has been popping up all over the runway for fall. For an everyday look you can pair it with black eyeliner for a edgy, fun look.  

How to get the look - Apply a black liner around the entire eye. Then you can add the amount of glitter you like by patting it on with a small round brush. Use a cream for a softer look. Make it neutral and wearable with colors like copper, rose and gold.  

The trend - berry stained lips  

Great fall highlighter!! 

A true fall classic that anyone can rock. From deep, dark berries and purple to black, darker colors can be extremely flattering and make you standout. It also works well with all lip shapes and comes off very romantic. If you're feeling adventurous. Go for a darker berry, blue, or even black shade.  

How to get the look - For a soft lip, apply a darker shade to the center of your lips and then use your fingers to draw the color out to the lip line. Always make sure your lips are exfoliated and moisturized beforehand.  

The trend - dramatic lashes  

Volume lashes!! Great for woman who want a deep more full look! Or someone who doors not have a lot of lashes it's a great way to give the illusion of having more!!  

Lashes are more popular than ever this season and are the most luxurious way to dramatize any look. Wear them alone or with light illuminated eyes for a high contrast look.  

How to get the look - Customize your look with individual lashes or load up on your mascara. Or for more permanent drama you could get your lashes done with me 😉

Hi all! I'm super excited to say I've officially been in business for a full week! I absolutely love my new location on Arnold Avenue and I couldn't be happy to be in my dream spot. It's so rewarding to be here after creating EmbellishU a little over 4 years ago. All of my neighbors, local shops are super cute too!!

Narrow Down Your Beauty Routine

In this day and age, there are so many different beauty products out there. From creams to lotions and serums and every form of foundation under the sun, it can be all a little overwhelming. Here I want to list the bare essentials that can get you through your morning routine while still looking young, fresh and glowing.  

• Coconut oil - the miracle worker. Use it as a moisturizer, hair mask, a head to toe salve, even a teeth whitener. Make sure it's refined though  
• Essential oils - these you may have a few of, but for different purposes. Tea tree for blemishes, lavender for anxiety, peppermint for energy or skin refresher, just to name a few. You can even make your own scents  
• BB Cream - evens out your skin tone and masks imperfections while still being lightweight, what more could you want  
• Powder palette, one of those with a highlighter, blush, bronzer and a skin tone. You could even use some of the shades for your eyeshadow  
• Eyeliner - in whatever form of your liking, liquid, pencil, gel etc  
• Mascara - lashes frame your eyes and make them standout more
• Lipstick/gloss/liner - find your signature shade of lipstick, a nuetral liner, and a light gloss. Perfect  
• Dry shampoo - make your blowout last a little extra while giving your hair some volume  

While these are just essentials, you might add a few items you love here and there, for a special occasion or whatever it may be. Or even if you just feel like treating yourself to a new lipstick. Hopefully this list will have you try something new, maybe you'll even find your new favorite product.

A Little Tuesday Pick Me Up

Be on Purpose! Turn every negative into a positive::)) we have gifts from God all day. You just have to see them.  

Hi all (: Today I want to spread some positivity and inspiration to all of you. This is for anyone who may feel stuck, or any type of negativity whatsoever. We've all been there, and it's easy to feel like you're the only one who's ever felt the way you do. Know that you are not alone!! For every emotion or feeling you've ever felt, there's so many other people who have felt the same or similar without you even knowing it. A lot of people don't speak about what their internally feeling for the fear of being misunderstood.

What I want to instill in everyone going through any kind of hardship right now is that you have the power to change it. Yes, you! You are the first, and only person that can help yourself. It's easy to get into a negative cycle and think that there's nothing you can do to make your situation lighter, but the longer you think that way, the longer things will stay the same. Be the change you wish to see. Your mind is your most powerful organ in your body. It's a lot stronger than you may think. Everyone has the ability to attract what they want in life through positive thinking. You know the saying, "a negative mind will never lead to a positive life." It sounds corny, but it's true. What you put out into this world is what you attract. In religion we call it spirits, in science we call it energy, in the streets we call it vibes. However you look at it, those energies you give out will come back to you. Don't get me wrong, nobody's perfect, and everyone can get down every once in a while, but taking those negative circumstances and letting it fuel you to make it a positive instead of letting them bring you down is your key to having a better outlook. It's not about what's going on around you, but how you choose to look at it. Perspective, my friends. 

I would like everybody starting today to pick out all the good things about your day, even the tiniest, most insignificant things. Make it a daily practice, and watch how your mind set changes. You can thank me later (;

A Look Into Permanent Makeup

As all of you know, I love and am a huge advocate on expanding my education and furthering my skills in the beauty industry, which is solely built on the fact that I love to make others feel beautiful, inside and out. So without further revue I'd like to announce that I am officially certified in permanent cosmetics! I will be finishing my apprenticeship this week. Then off to take my test to get licensed my the American Association of Micropigmentation. This has been a long time goal of mine and I'm so glad I now get to offer this to wonderful clients. These were all different eyebrows on different woman. They barely had hair. Some were done with a shading technique, then came back for hairlike strokes after words. 

This is still Healing:) but a huge part to remember, Heal, Peel, and fade. My mom literally just wears gloss. Your color then disappears and comes back. Faded though.  

Here we  dropped her lower lip line to give her a more pout look:) also defined her lips more. Created more shape:)

Let's face it the lash industry has really boomed over the last eight years. It's not a cheap service and you get what you pay for!! It truly its a luxury service, and a really amazing experience too. My main priority after the health and safety of your lashes, is making you feel comfortable. I want you leaving relaxed, rejuvenated, and revitalized. The atmosphere and my crystal warm bed will heal you from within. Now lets go on to explain what Volume Lashes are!

Volume Lash extensions is a new technique that can offer great volume, so many lashes up to 360 per eye! Seriously it’s like POW! It is unique in itself to also offer to woman that are not able to wear classic lash extensions, due to having sparse thin lashes. Whether it is from a medical condition, hereditary or with age, as we know things change.  Let me tell you a little history about the two techniques so you can understand them a little better.

Classic lash extensions are done with one single lash extension that is applied to one of your own natural lashes at the base of your eye, but before your skin. Myself or another technician does this by using two long stainless steel sanitized tweezers. One tweezer holds the lash extension and one tweezer isolates one single natural lash. Now if you have sparse hair we cannot fill in any gaps. We can apply hair where hair is. There are different weights and lengths in lashes and all that is based on the health of your own natural lashes.

Now we get to Volume Lash Extensions. So as far as the technique goes and isolation of the lashes its all the same. Volume lashes is a technique that you will pick up very fine eyelash extensions 2,3,4,5,6 lashes at one time. You create small fans. This technique really is for technicians that are already advanced in there lash career. I say this cause you really have to know how much glue and the weight of the lashes. Health and safety first, always!! The lashes are much more fine this way you can use more lashes on one eye and fill in gaps and give the illusion of having longer, thicker, and more full lashes. Without compromising the integrity of your lashes. The price of volume lashes is anywhere from $350 to $400 for a full set. The maintenance is $100/$125. It takes up to 3hrs to put them on. The fill can take up to 2hrs. Usually about 1.5, but when you go full on it takes longer. If anyone says it should be quicker trust me it's not a good reputable place.

The Best Spring Makeup Trends For 2016

Spring has finally sprung here in New Jersey (at least for now) which means it's time to up your look! Everybody feels a little better when the temperatures start rising, and you start to put a little more effort in. The no-makeup makeup trend has been around for a while, but that reign is over. It's time for bright red lips, electric eye's, glitter and fluffy lashes. 

Classic look red lip and black liner. For a super easy look when you have zero time in the am!! Throw hair in a bun and add a POP OF RED COLOR TO LIPS!! you will look perfectly prepped:)) 

A red lip is always a classic, but on the runways for spring this year it's never been so evident. The color to keep in mind: Snow White apple red, with a satin finish, for a fresh low maintenance look. Or if you want a little more drama, go for a stay in place all night matte. There's tons of liquid to matte lipsticks out there nowadays. Opt for a simple black liner on the eyes and you're set.

Apply to inner corners to outside corners! Want to make it super intense!!! Dampen your brush and pat it on!! 

My favorite look I've been seeing is blue for the eyes. Yes I know you're all thinking, "how the hell do I wear that?" The answer, any way you want. Don't be afraid of a little color. You can do a smoky eye with a sparkly navy instead of your traditional browns and blacks. You could even take a cobalt blue liner and use it on your bottom lash line and smoke it out a bit with a neutral shadow. Any way you choose isn't wrong, have fun!

Now this is fun! Keep the eyes soft. You can use soft brown from Mac. Also do a blue line under your eyes mixed in with the soft brown... You are the next fashion statement:)) 

Now mascara has been on the back burner for a little while, but the emphasis on lashes has made a come back. For those of you that are on the blue eye movement, another fun trick is to add some colored falsies, just to the outer corner of your eye. Pair it with bare skin and a nude lip to really make them stand out. Also, you could always invest in a little eyelash extensions, at EmbellishU (; for a fluffy, flirty new look!
